A Cape Dutch Garden: Venus and Spring

The signature of the work is Venusian and Spring or Venus carries the Venus flower that was part of an earlier work (The Angel and the Venus Star July 2021). In her book, 'Venus and Aphrodite', Bettany Hughes mentions how feline cats have been linked to the Goddess in previous times as is the dove. Here she is linked to the joys of Spring and the beauty of nature, in this case a cultivated garden. For me beauty and Venusian values such as aesthetics is something we can cultivate and appreciate in a myriad of unique ways! The Cape Dutch wall is typical of the Cape Dutch heritage.
